The PrimaKlima-Seal

for pioneers of climate protection,
who act according to their knowledge

The seal certifies climate neutrality that has been achieved for a certain period of time:

The requirements:
The recipient of the seal has externalized to PrimaKlima-weltweit- e.V.
  - his current CO2-balance;
  - demonstrated that he or she, by means of CO2-avoidance/ technical
    compensation and/or biotic disposal, does not contribute to an increase in the
    atmospheric concentration of greenhouse gases in the long run during the time
    period certified by the seal.

The right to use the seal and therefore demonstrate (temporary) CO2-neutrality does not relieve oneself from the obligation of continuous efforts to avoid or reduce future CO2 emissions.

The goal of bestowing the seal
Climate problems have been discussed in economics and politics for 20 years. In 1992, the world convened in Rio; declarations were formulated and intentions declared. After a troublesome process, the Kyoto protocol, through which especially industrial nations obliged themselves to take initial actions, was signed in 1997. However, the goals probably will not be reached in time, even though they were set relatively low compared to the eminence of the matter.

The awareness of what has to be done is now increasing; data of actual climate development are catching up to the prognosises. Proclamations made by climate scientists (recently summarized in the forth UN climate report, namely IPCC report 2007) are becoming increasingly urgent. But there is a hold-up on the global political scale of what is economically feasible. Even environmental and climate protection organizations, churches, universities and climate research institutions are often not making an effort to achieve climate neutrality.

Under these circumstances, public attention is needed for those private people, organizations, companies, administrations, institutions, etc. who (step by step) achieved climate neutrality or at least declared it their goal to do so. PrimaKlima hopes to make it easier for donators to shine light on their efforts and inspire others to do the same by bestowing the PrimaKlima-seal.
