Monitoring / verification
validation / certification

Monitoring: inspection (on a regular basis) of the execution of a project in regards to the goals set

Validation: an independent entity inspects the fulfilment of the criteria set forth in the project design

Verification: inspection (on a regular basis) in regards to the achievement of the goals by independent third parties and preparation of a verification report

Certification: confirmation of a third party (after successful verification) that the project has reached the expected goals (eg. the extent of carbon sequestration).

Projects in Germany
45 % of PrimaKlima's project areas are located in Germany. Our partners here are the chambers of agriculture, counties and foundations. There is no doubt about the reliability of projects realized under the supervision of these parties. The German law further guarantees that the afforested areas are being maintained for an indefinite period of time.
Monitoring reports for projects in Germany are available. Costly verification is not necessary.
If a donator wishes to receive verification by a third party, said verification of course can be obtained if the donator is willing to cover the resulting expenses.

Projekte im Ausland
55 % of PrimaKlima's project areas are located abroad, for example 1,050 ha in the Congo, 770 ha in Argentina, 232 ha in the US, 40 ha in Madagascar. Monitoring reports for this projects are available. Verification is available for Argentina and Madagascar. Obtaining professional verification for the projects in the Congo is more difficult due to organizational and financial reasons. As of now, we therefore decided not to obtain said verification, since the project reports, photos and progress reports of the afforestation partner are very convincing. For the US, the presented documents are sufficient as well and we therefore will not obtain costly verification by third parties.

Keep in mind that PrimaKlima demands only 2 € per ton of CO2 absorption. Also, the calculated binding-rate of CO2 achieved by PrimaKlima thus far equals 140 percent of the numbers that were promised to donators. Projects that failed can be found on just 5 % of all project areas.

If a donator wishes to receive verification by a third party, said verification of course can be obtained if the donator is willing to cover the resulting expenses.
