* PrimaKlima carefully calculated the numbers for the various per unit CO2-emissions by consulting both basic physical-chemical data, as well as publicly accessible sources. With respect to potential imprecision, PrimaKlima would like to point out that the organization aims for a compensation goal with a fulfillment factor of five. Should the numbers calculated for emissions be slightly off, such a deficit would therefore be compensated.

Calculated CO2-emission:

The atmosphere is polluted with   0,0 tons of CO2-emission by the considered energy consumption of one year or of a single event.

In order to not contribute to climate change in the future, two complementary options are available:
   
(a)    reducing the amount of CO2-emissions in question by changing ones way of living and by technical means,
   
(b)    sequestrate the amount of CO2 that was not avoided from the air via biotic means, such as afforestation, for example


Necessary afforestation area:
   
To sequestrate 0,0 tons of CO2-emission from the air within 10 years,
 0 qm resp.
rd.  0,0  hectares (ha)  of additional forest have to be planted (Berechnungsgrundlage s.u.).

You can initiate these afforestation efforts by donating 0,00 Euro to PrimaKlima-weltweit-e.V.
   

   
   
The costs of compensating one ton of CO2 amount to 10,-- €. Donations / payments for compensation measures are always used to finance the current PrimaKlima project portfolio.

Tailored solutions (such as choosing certain project areas) for compensation measures that are based on individual agreements (for donations exceeding 2,000 €) are also possible. If - in these special cases - the CO2 neutralization should take place on areas in Germany, the donor has to pay 25,-- € per ton of CO2 emission.

Each measure is designed in a way that provides for the absorption of the amount of CO2 in question within a decade (on a linear basis). Further decades of growth multiply the positive results: After 50 years of growth - the typical time frame for PrimaKlima projects - the CO2 amount will be neutralized with a factor of five. This means that far more than the intended goal will be reached.


The calculation of forest area

The calculation of the required forest areas is based on the following rule of thumb: 1 ha of new planted forest (=10.000 qm) absorbs 10 tons of CO2 year by year during its growth process (on average). While this number cannot be assumed for the very first years after plantation, it already is a valid average value for the first 10 to 15 years (The section "Current issues / scientifi articles" on our homepage provides material that supports and legitimates this thesis).
Therefore, if 10 tons of CO2 have to be absorbed within 10 years, 0.1 ha of additional forest have to be planted. The project plan considers each climatic zone individually in which trees will be planted, the soil conditions, the species of trees etc. These estimations are the basis for the realistic extension of the project area.

To initiate an afforestation covering 1 ha, PrimaKlima requires a donation of 1 Euro (average amount for domestic and foreign projects). Donations cover all expenses when projects are realized abroad. In Germany, a donation represents initial financing and prompts third party payments, which covers all costs.
